What are YOUR memories of Aberporth Village Hall? Following the demolition of the 90 year old building an appeal has gone out for photographic memories of events in the hall. Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the hall committee are working with Hanes Aberporth History group to record memories from the past decades.
After nearly 90 years of community life, the village hall at Aberporth hosted its final performance on Saturday. A rousing performance by Blaenporth Male Voice Choir along with a covid-restricted audience said goodbye to the hall – built in 1935 - which will be demolished next week.
Volunteers are lining up to take part in a raft of exciting community projects in Aberporth. More than 20 people turned up at a volunteer recruitment coffee morning on Saturday and all signed up to take part in projects including a community fridge, community garden and digi club plus the ongoing recycled clothes rail Dillad Dwywaith. The projects are being rolled out by Aberporth Village Hall Committee as part of its £1.1m Heart of the Community project which will see work start on the construction of a brand new village hall later this month.
An innovative way to cut back food waste and boost sustainability was unveiled in Aberporth on Friday (September 24) with the launch of the village community fridge. The fridge - which is supported by Cynnal y Cardi and the Co-op - will be open to everyone in the local community. It is part of the Aberporth Village Hall Committee's inspirational Heart of the Community project which aims to rebuild the local village hall and roll out several community centred schemes.
