About Aber-porth Village Hall

Aber-porth Village Hall is run by the community for the community. A Charitable Incorporated Organisation it has 12 trustees – all local people - who meet on the first Thursday of every month (with the exception of August).

Our
Spaces

We manage several spaces for the enjoyment and wellbeing of Aber-porth residents and visitors.

Aber-porth Village Hall opened in 2004, comprises a large main hall, smaller hall, meeting room, large modern kitchen plus airy meet and greet area, consultation room, disabled toilet facilities plus a fully accessible changing spaces facility with hoist. The hall has a hearing induction loop and is wheelchair accessible. It has a large car park with electric charging points and disabled bays.

Canolfan Dyffryn, is primarily a sports hall with the addition of a meeting room, a kitchen and toilet facilities. It houses the community fridge, Dillad Dwywaith our recycled clothes rail, plus community garden.

Green spaces, including: the recreation ground adjacent to Canolfan Dyffryn; the Lower Welfare Park; parkland & a woodland walk fronting on to Dyffryn & Dolwyn beaches. The latter forms part of the ‘safe route to school.’

We also manage all three public car parking facilities in the village. All donations are used to support the hall.

The history of Aber-porth Village Hall

1928

The Lower Welfare Park was gifted to the community. The original village hall was a small building on what is now Bryn Seion car park.

1935

In 1935 the Village Hall Committee was formed to build the existing village hall. They then merged with the Welfare Committee to form the Aberporth Village Hall and Welfare Committee.

1950s

The smaller Festival Hall was added in the early 1950s. Parcels of land at Penrodyn and the woodland near the beach were added. The Aberporth Village Hall and Recreation Ground was established as a charity under a trust deed in 1951.

1996

In 1996 Canolfan Dyffryn was built from SportsLot funding, initially as a Youth Club, managed by a separate charity which later deregistered.

2018

By 2018 changing demographics led to AVH taking on the management of Canolfan Dyffryn.

2020

The current AVH Committee restructured and launched a project to rebuild the Village Hall, which was in very poor condition

2024

The new Aber-porth Village Hall is open!
